VCAP Coverage for Therapy in Philadelphia
Turning Leaf Therapy works with the Pennsylvania Victims Compensation Assistance Program (VCAP), which covers therapy costs for victims of crime, including survivors of assault, domestic violence, and other traumatic experiences. Where approved, sessions may be fully covered, with no copay burden.
How VCAP coverage works
VCAP is a Pennsylvania program that can pay for counseling for victims of crime and their families. If you are eligible, VCAP can cover the cost of your sessions here. Where approved, there is no copay burden. Our intake coordinator will help you understand what applies to your situation and take as much of the paperwork off your shoulders as possible.
The care itself
Most people who reach us through VCAP are carrying the aftermath of something that should not have happened. That is the work our practice was built for: phase-based, relational, trauma-informed care, at your pace. Our PTSD and Complex PTSD therapy page describes how we approach it.
What we treat with VCAP coverage
Anxiety
Hypervigilance, panic, and the constant scanning that follows a crime are covered under VCAP as outpatient behavioral health when your claim is approved. Anxiety therapy here treats that vigilance as an adaptation your nervous system made for good reason, and works to help it stand down rather than simply suppressing it.
Depression
The flatness, withdrawal, and exhaustion that often follow victimization are covered VCAP concerns. Our depression therapy does not treat that as weakness or as a separate problem from what happened; it treats it as part of the aftermath and works at that level.
Trauma and PTSD
This is the center of what VCAP exists to cover. PTSD and complex PTSD are covered outpatient conditions, and our trauma-informed therapy is phase-based: safety and stabilization first, processing only at a pace you set, with EMDR and parts work available when they fit.
Grief and loss
Where a crime involved the death of someone you love, grief and trauma arrive together. VCAP covers that outpatient care, and grief therapy here is built to hold both at once rather than treating them in sequence.
Life transitions
The disruption after a crime often includes moving, leaving a job, or restructuring a family. These adjustment difficulties are covered under VCAP, and life transitions therapy gives that upheaval a place to be thought about rather than only survived.
Relationships
Trust, boundaries, and closeness are frequently the longest-lasting casualties. VCAP covers this outpatient work, and our relationship therapy is individual, focused on rebuilding your own sense of safety in connection at whatever pace that takes.
Getting started
Questions about eligibility belong to VCAP directly; questions about starting therapy belong to us. Begin the five-minute intake or call (215) 399-4128 and mention VCAP.
